Geotechnical
Ashton Bennett are currently acting as expert witness for a client concerned with the cause of extensive damage to a factory floor. Ground investigation included drilling and soil sampling to assess bearing capacity and soil and concrete testing together with investigation of the supporting vibro compacted piles and interpretation to determine the cause and solution to the damage.
This mill is being redeveloped for apartments and houses with an Italian style piazza as the central courtyard feature. Ashton Bennett have undertaken geotechnical investigation of existing foundations and investigated the site for design of future foundations for new build and roadways. The investigation also incorporated mining and environmental investigation and remediation.
On completion a validation report will be presented to assure stakeholders that remediation has been undertaken to prevent harm to future sensitive receptors.
Following a geotechnical survey rock slopes were cut back to increase parking space for a Tesco store and the remaining slope supported by rock nails and netting infilled with uniform stone to give adequate support and a pleasant finished outlook.
A geotechnical survey is undertaken every two years on this limestone quarry to ensure Health and Safety and to comply with the Mines and Quarrys Act.
